Beach Volleyball fans can start counting the hours down to the Drawing of Lots for this year’s CEV EuroBeachVolley, which will be taking place on Wednesday, June 21 at 18:00 at the iconic Ares Tower in Vienna. This event will set the tone for the eagerly anticipated continental showpiece which will run from August 2 to 6 on Danube Island. You can follow the DOL live on the CEV’s official Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Danube Island in Vienna will welcome EuroBeachVolley for the first time in history

The Drawing of Lots involves 32 teams per gender – who on Wednesday late afternoon will find out what the early stages of their quest for continental honours will be looking like. Austria’s top Beach Volleyball teams will be among the attendees, along with representatives from the CEV, and local authorities including Vice-Chancellor Werner Kogler, City of Vienna Sports Councillor Peter Hacker, and Austrian Volleyball Federation (ÖVV) President, Gernot Leitner.

This year’s EuroBeachVolley in Vienna follows on the major success of the 2021 edition held at the very heart of Austria’s capital city, and of last year’s inaugural Beach Volley Nations Cup Finals organised at the very same venue. However, Beach Volleyball fans are up for a real treat this time, with EuroBeachVolley taking place on the iconic Danube Island where a majestic and imposing Red Bull Beach Arena will be set up thus bringing back memories from the highly successful 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships. The ticket sale has gone extremely well so far, and anyone interested in joining the Beach Volleyball party of the year shall visit https://www.beachvolleyball.at/en/.

The glittering EuroBeachVolley trophy will be at stake later this summer in Vienna

Sweden’s David Åhman/Jonatan Hellvig and Latvia’s Tina Graudina/Anastasija Samoilova are the reigning European champions following their success last year in Munich when Beach Volleyball featured prominently on the programme of the record-breaking multi-sport European Championships.
